Serenity in the Midst of Chaos

|

How do you cope in the midst of chaos? What do you do when you're in a hostile environment but don't have the luxury of physically removing yourself from it... When you're not at liberty to change the very nature of your surroundings?

Therein lies the beauty of this young teen girl's creativity and perspective in spite of just that.

"Being in a place like this.. (juvenile detention camp).. and wishing I could be in a place like that" (referencing her Cherry Blossom Tree painting)

This young girl's painting is her retreat away from her current surroundings.

When she's distraught by whatever chaos might be going on around her at any given moment, this Cherry Blossom Tree becomes her refuge, her"happy place", the safe haven to allow her minds eye to drift away even for but a few brief moments. This sanctuary, this place of beauty, thisCherry blossom Tree... becomes her escape.
