Position Overview
Youth Program Facilitator at Million Little is responsible for assisting and facilitating Million Little’s intervention and re-entry programs inside the juvenile detention/correctional facilities and community based social services agencies. This position reports to the Executive Director. Million Little is a small nonprofit organization; as a result, it is a unique opportunity for all staff members to become part of the core team that actualizes the organization’s mission and goals together.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate our strengths based healing arts programs
- Prepare and pack art supplies, materials, and digital equipment for each program session
- Work closely with the team to assist and revise program sessions based on interests and needs of the students
- Develop and revise our leadership program curriculum as need
- Provide 1-on-1 mentoring for youth
- Identify and facilitate access to additional opportunities and resources for the youth
- Engage in outreach activities and organize social gatherings for program participants
- Create notes, required documents after each program session in a timely manner
- Prepare quarterly assessments
- Sustain and model a strong commitment to program objectives
- Collaborate with youth and lead them in expressing and creating authentic expressions based on youth’s ideas and interests
- Cultivate culturally relevant and safe learning environments for all participants Create social media contents to engage and uplift voices of the community
- Write program stories
- Participate in staff training and attend staff meetings as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications and Experience
- Experienced working with youth ages 14-25 and knowledgeable of the principles of Positive Youth Development; demonstrated ability in engaging youth and facilitating youth group(s)
- Cultural competency to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, especially youth from historically under-represented and under-resourced communities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, energetic, flexible and the ability to work in a small team environment
- Believes in the strengths-based model for youth development and truly passionate about utilizing creativity for empowerment and the population Million Little serves
- Strong commitment for social change through the arts
- Additional assets include persistence, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to prioritize, and keen observation skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience with youth development work
Additional Skills
- Experienced in using Procreate, Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Canva, and/or Logic Pro is a plus
- Experienced in digital production, filming, video editing, photography, graphic design, and/or other forms of arts is a plus
- Experienced in working with system impacted/engaged youth is a plus
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds, move materials (clay, paints, equipment, etc) on carts around program sites
- Must be flexible working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment and open to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
- Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation required to work at > Million Little partner sites across Los Angeles County (minimum 3 times a week) and come in to the Million Little office in Valencia, CA 91355 (Monday through Friday)

- May require to provide First Aid/CPR certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- May require a certification of negative TB status
Hours & Compensation Range
- Full Time, 30+ hours per week
- $20-$24/hour
